ELEMENTS AND COMPOUNDS

Pure substances can be classified as elements or compounds. Elements are simple substances that have unique compositions. They are composed of atoms, which can no longer be broken down by either physical or chemical methods. There are elements that are found in our body like nitrogen, hydrogen, carbon, oxygen and many more. There are also elements that can be found in our society like the likeness or similarity, difference, interdependence, cooperation, organization and many more to mention. While, compounds in the other hand is formed by combining two or more different elements. The components of compound can be separated only through chemical reactions or changes in the composition of matter. When the elements are joined, the atoms lose their individual properties and have different properties from the elements they are composed of. A chemical formula is a quick way to show the composition of compounds. Letters, numbers, and symbols are used to represent elements and the number of elements in each compound. Compounds has two kinds; Organic compounds and Inorganic compounds. There are compounds that are also found in our body like carbohydrates, lipid, proteins, nucleic acid and many more. Just like the elements there are also compounds that our society have like water, carbon dioxide, octane and many more to mention.
